CITYSCAPES

Contemporary Cityscape Paintings

The Collection

Cities are full of stories.

Every street, every building and every person contributes to the atmosphere that makes a place memorable. My Cityscapes Collection is inspired by those moments where architecture and everyday life come together, creating scenes that are both familiar and deeply personal.

From the vibrant streets of London and New York to the quiet charm of York, Venice and Paris, these paintings celebrate the places that leave a lasting impression. Rather than creating literal representations, I use mixed media to capture the feeling of being there, the changing light, the movement of people and the character that makes every city unique.

The Inspiration

I've always been fascinated by architectural perspectives and the relationship between people and buildings. Cities are constantly changing. Light shifts throughout the day, reflections appear after rain and people create an ever-changing rhythm as they move through the streets. While the buildings provide permanence, it's the people that bring them to life. When I paint a city, I'm not trying to document every detail. Instead, I want to recreate the atmosphere that made me stop, look and reach for my sketchbook.

My Creative Process

Each painting begins with layers. Acrylic paint, collage, printed imagery and textured mediums are gradually built up, allowing the composition to develop naturally.

Loose brushwork allows buildings to emerge rather than being rigidly defined, while figures are often suggested rather than described. This creates paintings that feel alive and encourages the viewer to become part of the scene. Every city has its own personality, and every painting reflects my own experience of that place.

A Personal Invitation

Whether a painting reminds you of somewhere you've lived, somewhere you've travelled or somewhere you dream of visiting, I hope these cityscapes evoke memories of your own.

If you'd like to discuss any painting, request additional photographs or arrange a viewing,

I'd be delighted to hear from you.

Some places stay with us forever. If one of these paintings reminds you of yours,

then it has already begun its journey.
