"Over the years I've realised that I don't simply paint cities, rivers or landscapes.

I paint the places that become part of our lives.

The places we fall in love with, return to, celebrate milestones in or simply remember for the way they made us feel."

Painting the Places That Stay With Us

I've been creating for as long as I can remember. As a child, I was always drawing and painting, fascinated by colour, composition and the stories that a picture could tell. Creativity wasn't something I discovered later in life, it has always been part of who I am.

That passion led me to art school, where I specialised in Graphic Design before beginning a career as a designer. Over the years my professional journey evolved, eventually leading me to become CEO and Creative Director. Although my career took me into business leadership, creativity remained at the heart of everything I did.

Today, painting allows me to return to where it all began.

Inspired by Places, Not Just Landmarks

Travel has always been one of my greatest sources of inspiration.

I've been fortunate to visit many remarkable places around the world, and each one has left its own mark on the way I see colour, light and atmosphere. Rather than painting famous landmarks as postcards, I'm drawn to the moments that stay with us long after we've returned home.

York will always hold a special place in my heart. It's where I got married, where I have family and a city I return to time and again. New York has become another favourite, not only for its extraordinary architecture, but for the traditions I've created there. Every visit includes a stop at the Oyster Bar beneath Grand Central before heading out to explore the city once more.

It's the quiet elegance of Venice, the charm of a Parisian café, the dramatic skyline of Manhattan, or a peaceful walk through snow covered woodland with my dogs, every experience becomes part of my work. The more I travel, the more inspiration I find.

Thankfully, that story is still being written.

Painting Memories, Not Photographs

People often ask whether my paintings are based on photographs.

Sometimes they begin that way, but they never end there. I'm far more interested in capturing how a place felt than exactly how it looked. Memories soften over time. They become layered with emotion, conversation, changing light and personal experiences. That's why mixed media suits the way I work so naturally.

Using layers of acrylic, collage and texture, I gradually build each painting until it reflects the atmosphere and emotion of a place rather than simply recording it.

I want people to recognise the feeling before they recognise the location.

Every Painting Has Its Own Story

Every original painting begins with something that has inspired me. It might be a city I've returned to countless times, the reflections of yachts on calm water, the remarkable architecture of a museum, or the stillness of a winter morning.

Some paintings are inspired by iconic places, others by iconic people, and many by the quiet moments that most people walk straight past. I believe those moments deserve to be remembered. When someone chooses one of my paintings, I hope they're not simply buying a picture for their wall. I hope they're finding a place, a memory or a feeling that speaks to them in a personal way.

The Creative Process

Every painting is created by hand in my studio using layers of acrylic paint, collage, printed imagery and textured mediums. No two pieces are ever the same.

The process is intuitive, allowing each painting to evolve naturally as colours, textures and marks build upon one another. Sometimes a painting develops quickly, others reveal themselves gradually over many weeks. That sense of discovery is one of the things I love most about painting.

A Personal Invitation

Thank you for taking the time to explore my work.

Whether you've found a painting that reminds you of a favourite place, you're searching for something that evokes a special memory, or you're simply discovering my work for the first time, I hope these paintings inspire you to look at familiar places in a new way.

If you would like to discuss an original painting, enquire about a commission, or simply ask a question, I'd be delighted to hear from you.

I look forward to sharing the next chapter of the journey with you.

The places we remember are rarely the most famous, they're the ones that became part of our story.
