The Story Behind the Painting
Barcelona has an atmosphere unlike anywhere else.
The old quarter is full of colour, history and life, where cafés, balconies and hidden squares reveal themselves as you wander through the streets. Rather than painting every architectural detail precisely, I wanted to capture the feeling of walking through the city as sunlight catches the façades after rain.
Working with layered mixed media allows me to build surfaces that feel weathered and lived in, much like the buildings themselves. Rich textures, subtle typography and vibrant colour create depth while preserving the loose, expressive quality that defines my work.
The result is a painting that feels both contemporary and timeless, inviting the viewer to step into the streets of Barcelona and experience its unique character.
