The Inspiration
Some of the most memorable moments in a city happen between destinations.
After rain has fallen, the streets become alive with reflections, lights shimmer across the pavement and ordinary walks suddenly become extraordinary. This painting celebrates that feeling of being immersed in the life of a busy city.
 
The Story Behind the Painting
I wanted All About The Town to capture the excitement and atmosphere of a vibrant city after rainfall.
Rather than painting every architectural detail, I focused on movement, light and reflection. The sweeping curve of the street naturally guides the eye through the composition, while figures carrying umbrellas become part of the rhythm of the city.
Built using layers of acrylic paint, printed imagery, texture and translucent glazes, the surface reveals subtle details the longer you spend with it. Cool blues contrast with warm reflected light, creating depth and a feeling of constant movement.
Like many of my cityscapes, this painting is about capturing a memory and an emotion rather than documenting a specific place. It invites the viewer to imagine themselves walking through the streets, surrounded by light, colour and the energy of urban life.
