The Inspiration
Venice captures the timeless beauty of one of Italy's most enchanting cities. Narrow canals, weathered façades and softly reflected light combine to create an intimate scene where architecture and water have existed together for centuries. Through expressive brushwork and richly layered mixed media, the painting celebrates the quiet charm found beyond Venice's famous landmarks.
 
The Story Behind the Painting
Some places seem to exist outside of time.
Away from the busy piazzas, Venice reveals itself through its quieter waterways, where small boats rest beneath elegant bridges and centuries-old buildings rise directly from the canals. The reflections constantly shift, turning architecture into abstract patterns of colour and light.
Rather than creating a detailed architectural study, I wanted to capture the atmosphere of wandering through these hidden passages. Layers of acrylic, textured mediums and printed elements build a weathered surface that echoes the city's aged walls, while loose brushwork allows the light and reflections to emerge naturally.
The painting is an impression of Venice's quieter side, a place where history, water and everyday life exist in perfect harmony.
