The Story Behind the Painting
Horse racing is exciting in any setting, but White Turf is unlike anything else. The combination of powerful thoroughbreds racing across snow and ice against a backdrop of winter skies creates an unforgettable spectacle.
In White Turf, I wanted to capture the explosive moment as the horses burst through the snow, surrounded by flying ice and swirling colour. Thick layers of mixed media create texture and movement, while cool blues and whites contrast beautifully with the warmth of the horses and jockey silks. Rather than painting every detail, I focused on the excitement, the speed and the drama that make this event so extraordinary.
It's a painting that brings together sport, winter landscapes and contemporary abstraction in one dynamic composition.
