The Inspiration
Welcome To Tate Modern (2) explores the energy inside one of London's most celebrated galleries. Rather than focusing on the exterior architecture, this painting reflects the experience of moving through the vast industrial spaces where light, scale and contemporary art come together to create something both inspiring and immersive.
 
The Story Behind the Painting
Walking through Tate Modern is unlike visiting almost any other gallery.
The enormous Turbine Hall, soaring vertical spaces and ever-changing exhibitions create an atmosphere that feels alive with creativity. People become small figures within the architecture, moving between light, shadow and colour as they discover new works.
In Welcome To Tate Modern (2), I wanted to capture that feeling of exploration. The composition is deliberately abstracted, allowing layers of texture, bold colour and expressive marks to suggest movement through the gallery rather than describing a single location. The silhouetted figure becomes a guide, inviting the viewer into the painting and encouraging them to make their own discoveries.
Created using layered mixed media techniques, the painting celebrates the excitement of contemporary art and London's position as one of the world's great cultural capitals.
