The Story Behind the Painting
Tate Modern is more than a gallery, it is an experience.
Every visit begins before you walk through the doors. The vast brick façade, the scale of the building and the anticipation of discovering new ideas all become part of the journey. I wanted this painting to capture that feeling of arrival rather than simply reproduce the architecture.
Using layered mixed media, textured surfaces and bold areas of colour, I allowed the familiar form of the building to emerge from abstraction. The rich oranges and reds reflect the energy and creativity housed within the gallery, while cooler blues balance the composition and suggest the openness of the surrounding London skyline.
Rather than documenting a single moment, Welcome To Tate Modern celebrates London's role as one of the world's great centres for contemporary art, inviting viewers to experience both the building and the creative spirit it represents.
