The Inspiration
Seagulls celebrates the untamed energy of the coast, where birds gather, circle and dive above the sea in a constant display of movement. Rich textures and vibrant colours combine to create an expressive painting full of life, freedom and the ever-changing rhythm of the shoreline.
 
The Story Behind the Painting
The coast is never still. Waves roll in, the wind shifts direction and seabirds fill the sky with effortless movement. Watching flocks of gulls swoop and circle above the water inspired this painting, capturing the vitality that makes the coastline feel so alive.
Rather than painting individual birds in detail, I wanted to create the sensation of movement itself. Bold brushstrokes, layered mixed media and energetic marks allow the flock to emerge from the painting, while vibrant blues, whites and flashes of warm orange echo the colours of sea, sky and reflected light.
Seagulls is a celebration of freedom and nature's unpredictability, bringing the atmosphere of the coast into a contemporary abstract composition.
