Prince is an original mixed media artwork by Gill Storr, celebrating one of music's most original, flamboyant and influential performers.
The portrait takes centre stage, surrounded by an explosion of purple, violet, magenta, gold and electric colour, layered with typography, music references, handwritten elements and graphic imagery.
Prince's famous symbol appears prominently within the composition, while the surrounding fragments build a visual story around an artist who constantly challenged convention.
Bold, theatrical and full of energy, this is a piece designed to command attention.
Look Closer
There is much more to discover beyond the portrait.
References to Prince's music and career are woven throughout the artwork, including Purple Rain, Paisley Park, concert imagery, song titles, graphic symbols and fragments of printed material.
Some references are immediately visible, while others disappear beneath translucent layers of paint, pattern and texture.
