The Story Behind the Painting
Sailing has always inspired my work, and Mellow is one of my quieter, more contemplative pieces. I wanted to capture the feeling of slowing down and enjoying the journey rather than the destination.
Built with layers of mixed media, textured paint and subtle neutral tones, the painting has an understated elegance that allows the light to become the focal point. Soft greys, warm creams and muted blues blend together to create an atmosphere of calm, while the reflections anchor the composition and add depth to the tranquil scene.
This is a painting that brings a sense of peace into a room, inviting the viewer to pause for a moment and imagine being gently carried across still water.
