The Inspiration
Through The Mist captures the quiet beauty of the coastline as sea, sky and light merge into one. Inspired by misty mornings where the horizon almost disappears, this atmospheric painting celebrates the peaceful stillness found by the water and the freedom of birds gliding effortlessly overhead.
 
The Story Behind the Painting
There are days by the coast when the mist softens everything. The horizon fades, the sea becomes almost monochrome and the only movement comes from the gulls drifting through the morning air.
With Through The Mist, I wanted to paint that sense of calm and mystery. Rather than defining every wave or cloud, I allowed layers of textured mixed media to create an atmospheric landscape where the viewer's imagination completes the scene. The subtle palette of silvers, whites and soft greys gives the painting a peaceful, contemporary feel, while the birds provide a gentle sense of movement and life.
It's a painting that invites you to pause, breathe and lose yourself in the tranquillity of the coast.
