The Inspiration
Guggenheim (1) is inspired by the extraordinary interior of New York's Guggenheim Museum, where Frank Lloyd Wright's iconic spiral architecture creates a gallery experience unlike any other. Layers of light, sweeping curves and quiet figures combine to celebrate the relationship between art, architecture and the people who experience it.
 
The Story Behind the Painting
Some buildings become works of art in their own right.
Walking through the Guggenheim, I was struck not only by the artwork on display but by the rhythm of the building itself. Visitors move gently around the continuous spiral, appearing and disappearing as they follow the galleries upward, becoming part of the architecture as much as the exhibitions.
Rather than painting every detail, I wanted to capture that feeling of movement through space. Broad horizontal layers, translucent washes and textured mixed media suggest the museum's flowing curves, while silhouetted figures create a sense of scale and quiet contemplation.
The result is an impression of the Guggenheim rather than a literal record, a painting about atmosphere, architecture and the shared experience of discovering art.
