Bob Marley: Exodus is an original mixed media artwork by Gill Storr, celebrating the music, spirit and enduring cultural legacy of Bob Marley.
Marley's joyful portrait sits at the heart of a vibrant composition filled with music memorabilia, typography, Jamaican references and fragments of his extraordinary story.
Brilliant orange, yellow and red sweep across the lower half of the canvas, contrasting with turquoise, blue, green and deep burgundy. Against these intense colours, areas of soft white within the portrait create a striking focal point.
The result is an artwork that feels wonderfully positive, energetic and full of life.
Look Closer
Throughout the artwork are fragments that connect directly with Marley's life and music.
Concert references and dates sit alongside Jamaican imagery, a postage stamp, printed articles and handwritten elements. References to Exodus and One Love are woven into the layers, giving the artwork its own visual rhythm.
One of the most prominent messages reads:
LOVE THE LIFE YOU LIVE.
LIVE THE LIFE YOU LOVE.
