Vintage-style concert material, references to Born in the U.S.A., American iconography, snippets of text and imagery associated with Springsteen’s music and performances are layered beneath expressive paint and mark-making.
Some elements immediately catch the eye; others reveal themselves slowly. That layering is an important part of my ICONS work, building the story of the person around the portrait rather than simply painting their likeness.
