All or Nothing captures the split-second intensity of rowing, where every stroke, every decision and every ounce of determination can mean the difference between victory and defeat.
 
The Story Behind the Painting
I've always been fascinated by the sheer commitment of a row team during a race. There is a point, when everything is on the line. The pace quickens, the rowers push harder and instinct takes over.
Rather than painting a detailed portrait of the race itself, I wanted to capture that explosive sense of movement and determination. The image emerges through energetic brushwork and layered textures, allowing the viewer to feel the speed rather than simply observe it.
Working with thick acrylics, texture mediums and expressive marks allowed me to create a painting full of energy and momentum. The restrained palette is punctuated with flashes of colour, drawing the eye through the composition just as the rowers surge towards the finish. All or Nothing is about commitment, courage and those defining moments when giving anything less simply isn't enough.
